Topas®

Cyclo - olefin copolymers are a family of amorphous, transparent copolymers based on cyclo-olefins and linear olefins. Properties of cyclo-olefins can be varied by adjustments to the chemical structure of the copolymer during the polymerization process. Performance characteristics of cyclo-olefins include low density, excellent transparency, low water absorption, excellent vapor barrier properties, heat deflection temperatures up to 170 degrees C, excellent bio-compatibility and chemical resistance. Applications based on excellent transparency include optical data storage, lenses, sensors and lighting components and instrument displays. There are numerous packaging applications, among which are pharmaceutical, medical and diagnostic disposables.
