Ultem®

Polyetherimide is an amorphous high performance engineering thermoplastic characterized by high heat resistance, high mechanical strength and creep resistance, excellent electrical properties, broad chemical resistance, resistance to U.V. radiation and exceptionally low smoke evolution. Theses properties are maintained over a wide temperature range. Polyetherimide has outstanding resistance to hot and boiling water, is steam sterilizable and autoclavable. These characteristics make polyetherimide suitable for many electrical / electronics, automotive, aerospace, medical, and mechanical applications. Polyetherimide is available in specialty formulations, including glass filled, flame retardant, carbon filled, low friction and aircraft grades.
