POLYPHENYLENE SULFIDE
(Download PDF document)
PPS is a high temperature, high performance crystalline thermoplastics providing exceptional chemical resistance and a UL. 94 VO rating. PPS outperforms many higher priced fluoropolymers in applications requiring high heat stability, chemical resistance and inherent flame resistance. PPS has a very low moisture absorption rate and an exceptionally high strength to weight ratio. PPS comes in branched and linear formulations, with the linear providing higher mechanical properties. Glass filled formulations provide increased mechanical strength for many demanding applications. Recently PPS materials have become available in thin section sheets, strips, coils and punched parts – from Ensinger / Penn Fibre Plastics. The availability of thin section PPS materials has created many new applications, including thermorformed parts, chemical tank linings, aircraft and automotive.
